History

The story of the JN8 building is closely connected to the world famous furniture brand Thonet. Built in 1876 by architects Alois Linsbauer and Alfréd Kirpal at the location of a former townhouse, the new five-storey apartment edifice still stands out as a landmark of Jungmannovo Square. At its inception, the neo-renaissance style building served as Prague’s representative office for the aforementioned company Gebrüder Thonet, manufacturer of the world famous Thonet chairs and a well-known furniture brand still active to this day.

The building is located close to Wenceslas Square, in the middle of the vibrant city centre, it opens onto both 28.rijna Street and Jungmann Square, with beautiful facades on both faces.Found at the cross section of Prague’s Old and New Town, JN8 offers easy access to a full variety of sights, shops, restaurants and cafes in its immediate vicinity, as well as one of city’s most beautiful hidden parks Františkánská zahrada just across the square, the famous U Pinkasů pub where the Pilsner Urquell beer was first served in Prague, and the beautiful gothic Church of Our Lady of the Snows, with one of the tallest domes in Prague.
